Tumbleweeds & Trees

Quickly ponder, in self-evaluation, our walk of faith. Now let me ask this; are we a tumbleweed or a tree? Say what, Doug? What are you talking about; I think you're losing it. No seriously, when it comes to our daily walk of faith, are we a tumbleweed or a tree? The prophet Jeremiah put it this way in Jeremiah 17:5-8 NIV - now read and consider this closely, "...the LORD says, 'Cursed is the one who trusts in man, who depends on flesh for his strength and whose heart turns away from the LORD. He will be like a bush in the wastelands (we call them 'tumbleweeds' in Kansas); he will not see prosperity when it comes...(now note this; exactly the opposite) But blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, whose confidence is in him. He will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit."

Now, again let me ask - are we a tumbleweed or a tree when it comes to our faith in God? In whom do we trust; when life stinks or better yet even when things are going well? Our self or God - it can't be both. So which is it friends? And let me just say this - our NEW church logo is taken from these verses as well as Psalm 1:1-3; why? Well, because when it comes to our walk with God, individually and as a church body here at CCC; we want to be a tree firmly planted in God's Word; whose leaves are always green and bearing fruit no matter what life throws our way! And with God; that is totally doable; absolutely possible! Praise Him ya'll! Growing daily in Him - Doug
